GCEG 2018, Cologne – Newsletter: GCEG may be required to limit the total number of participants

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you all very much for your enormous interest in the GCEG 2018. Particularly in the last few days, we have received an overwhelming number of new submissions from all over the world. Thus, we can now confidently say that the GCEG 2018 will offer a great variety of plenaries, sessions, and panels with talks and posters covering cutting-edge topics in Economic Geography.

The unexpectedly high number of submissions, however, does imply that we may reach the University’s capacity limit. We have already received 750 abstracts, of which about 500 (!) were uploaded within only four days. Like at the GCEG 2015 in Oxford, we may unfortunately need to limit the number of participants. Thus, we would like to bring to your attention the fact that submissions from now on will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Of course, all those participants who have already submitted an abstract will have the opportunity to participate in the GCEG 2018, provided that their abstract is accepted.

Yours sincerely,

Boris Braun, Peter Dannenberg, Martina Fuchs and Javier Revilla Diez
