Call for Sessions and Papers

Under the umbrella topic “Dynamics in an Unequal World”, the University of Cologne invites you to participate in the fifth Global Conference on Economic Geography 2018 to be held in Cologne, Germany.

Registration            July 24, 2017 – May 1, 2018

Call for Sessions    July 24, 2017 – October 2, 2017

Call for abstracts   November 15, 2017 – March 15, 2018

To enable us to cover a broad selection of up-to-date topics, we warmly invite you to participate in the Global Conference on Economic Geography 2018 by suggesting sessions. Each session is scheduled to host four 20-minute presentations and shall be hosted by a chair and a co-chair. Speaker contributions will be selected by the chair and co-chair of the session. Suggestions should include the proposed title, the names and affiliations of the intended chair and co-chair, and a brief abstract (300 words) outlining the topic and its relevance to the conference. Acceptance of sessions will take place in October and will follow a non-competitive procedure based on the usual scientific criteria. We kindly ask you to hand in only one session proposal as first chair (no limitations for co-charing). If more than four paper presentations apply for your session, it will be possible to extend your proposal to further sessions with the same title (e.g. “Economic Geography II”).

Panel sessions are also welcome at the GCEG 2018. Please highlight this case in your session title (e.g. “Panel session: Economic Geography”). Participants of a panel session are supposed to apply for a contribution via the call for papers as well.

Submitting a session to the GCEG 2018 requires the registration and payment of one chair and the naming of the co-chair (which can register at a later stage). For paper submission (talk or poster) you can pay the conference fee after acceptance.

Further information about the registration and the call for sessions are available here. A call for papers will follow at November 15, 2017.
